Touring mode - 4/2

May 15 2K17.

We woke up morning at 6 am and quickly we were ready to go to Dhanushkodi, at 7 am we left to Dhanushkodi, it is around 10kms from our room,

[ Communication Tower for Coast Guard

We didn't even had tea and rode to Dhanushkodi with eager when we reached near to the entrance as same like everywhere security guards did not allow us to take the vehicle inside he was saying that we need permission (I don't know whose permission he was talking about) later left us in after taking our license.

It was awesome to ride in the Dhanushkodi, to the left and right is the sea and we are in the mid of that and we rode to the end of the road the Dhanushkodi point took some pics and enjoyed watching the sea as it is not new to me but the sea was different in blue water.

Then while coming back we saw the dilapidated church (the old ruined church of Dhanushkodi ) and the old railway station, what amazed me was the well in Dhanushkodi it is both the side sea even though you get the pure water without salty in taste.

Near to the railway station we saw many shops, got into one of the shops to have some fresh juice, the shopkeeper was an old man we order for juice, having fresh juice we started chatting with him, he said about the town Dhanushkodi, Rameswaram is the new town but before 1964 Dhanushkodi was everything they had all the facilities here, and suddenly the tragedy the cyclonic storm hit and it destroyed the whole town.

He said that around 2000 people died in the cyclonic storm including the passengers in train, the train completely sank into the sea, it was a huge tragedy and he was a survival of that cyclone, he was 10 Years old when this happened and even now around 500 people who survived from that tragedy lives here depending upon the tourists.

The old man's grandchild Karuna Karan was with him in the shop he studies in nearby school which is still 8th grade and further studies they need to go the Rameswaram.

After the long chat, we decided to sign off Dhanushkodi while coming we saw Dhanushkodi sea bridge, due to the force of the waves the bridge shakes, you can have good view of the sea from there,

Then we visited the Kothandaramaswamy Temple (Bibhishan Temple) it is located in Dhanushkodi Region, actually this temple was previously devastated by the cyclone, previously there was a small shrine in this place, now recently a new temple was built at the same place.

Then visited Jada temple, which was peaceful with no tourists here students come for studying purpose, we saw 3 of the students studying here, the priest of the temple said that no visitors here except the students.

Villoondi theertham : It is believed that this spot is where the Lord Rama hit his bow to acquire water to quench the thirst of Sita

It is situated near to the sea that is on the beach, one should walk about few meters on the bridge and located just about 30 meters from the land and the water from this well has no trace of salt and is highly potable.

When we visited rameshwaram we didn't forget about Dr. APJ ABDUL KALAM’S memorial, there we saw the site where he was buried was in utter neglect almost a year the govt has not taken care, few piks i have shared below before the inauguration of the memorial.

Then on 27th july'17 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates APJ Abdul Kalam's memorial.

 Kalam's Memorial (work under process)

Rameswaram Town
Then We came to the town and had our lunch, went to the room packed our luggage’s and we had to visit two more places which is on the to the exit of Rameswaram.
Later from there we started hitting the next destination.
