Palakkayam Thattu:
Palakkayam thattu(It is derived from the word ''Palakkay" a fruit and "Thattu" is the Top level) it is a hill station in Kannur district of Kerala state, it is situated in the western ghats about an altitude of 3500 ft.

Kannur district of kerala is my home town,once when I was here heard of palakkayam thattu which is near paithalmala,
I had been to paithalmala a few years back but i dint here about palakkayam thattu earlier,So decided to explore palakkayam thattu.

I said about this to my cousin(Ramees) and two of my friends (Rameez & Althaf) even they were exited about this plan and both the rameez's said that they will be getting there bikes, I didn't take my bike from bangalore as it was a short visit.

The next day we all left at 5:30AM to the spot,the destination was about 60 kms from the the starting point and the route which we took was chakkarakkal-irikkur-sreekandapuram-naduvil-palakkayam thattu.

The beauty of palakkayam thattu became popular after the district tourism promotion council initiated effective steps to improve the tourist projects in the place and many people

We reached here by around 7:00AM, there are many govt staff who takes care of the spot and a counter near the entrance for the entry ticket, we paid 10rs/hd and started trekking, one can trek easily it is about 500mts trek to reach the top of the hill,
Reaching the top you will be witnessing a picturesque spot, the view from the top is very beautiful and mesmerizing, the place is cleanly and beautifully maintained by the authorities.It is a place which attracts people by its beauty and climate,most of the evenings you can witness mist covered mountains and never ending greenery with little showers.

An Unexplored Natural Beauty
After spending few hours in palakkayam thattu we reached to a small town kudiyanmala,we stopped our bikes near to hotel and had food,
while having food we were discussing about the routes and tourists spots near by,at the time my cousin said that there is near by a waterfalls and he doesn't know the name of it,
It is lesser visited spot by the people and little hard to find the place, you can take the help of google maps, but we did not know the name of the waterfalls as well didn't had range in mobile,
So we asked the
local people around there for the direction towards waterfalls, finally we reached near to the falls the route about a kilometer was off road and there is no proper parking,
parked our vehicles on the dead end of off road, once you reach here you can hear the sound of the waterfalls, we were happy that the falls was closer
As I said before the place was not much crowded, met few people they used to come often here for swimming and relaxing, it is a best place to chill out as it is not crowded and peaceful spot they said.the falls is not good for swimming for non swimmers as it is too deep and slippery too,we spent some hours there swimming and chatting with them, later they left the place and they had come from other route as showed in the image they were climbing the hill and going which was too risky.
At 2:00pm we decided to sign off from the spot and started our bikes for back home,on the way after a kilometer far we saw the water stream of the falls,it was nice seeing that we went in search of the origin of the water, we walked bit far but it was taking us inside the forest, so we taught of drop the plan and get back home as it is getting late,got some good clicks of the nature and returned back home.
