PALAKKAYAM THATTU  &  EYARAKUND WATERFALLS 14th Jan'17 Palakkayam thattu beautiful top view Palakkayam Thattu:  P alakkayam thattu(It is derived from  the word ''Palakkay" a fruit and "Thattu" is the Top level) it is a hill station in Kannur district of Kerala state, it is situated in the western ghats about an altitude of 3500 ft.  On the way near to the canal Kannur district of kerala is my home town,once when I was here  heard of palakkayam thattu which is near  paithalmala, I had been to paithalmala a few years back but i dint here about palakkayam thattu earlier,So decided to explore palakkayam thattu. Trekking Avalabetta  Avalabetta is a hillock with pretty nice rocky views from the the hilltop and it is  a common place for the Bangalorians which is around 95kms from Bangalore. After visiting Lepakshi we rode towards Avalabetta, it is around 50 kms from Lepakshi.   The route was pleasant and rode took through some old remote villages.  After riding for a hour and a half we reached by 5:00PM near to the entrance gate of Avalabetta, unfortunately the security guards did not allow us to take the vehicles inside as he said the closing time is at 4:00pm, we pleaded to the guards and finally allowed us to go inside without taking bikes and said us not make it late, It is around 2km trek, we parked our bikes in the parking and started trekking.       We all were bit tired but all the way we have come here and even my friends are here for the first time so we all decided to trek again as there was no othe...
